Bubble-wrap is my favorite bubble. (Bubble bath. Bubblegum. Bubble soda.)

As a child, my daughter competed in acrobatics through CAT (California Acrosport Team).   Within the larger CAT team, were multiple teams of two to three athletes. Although a few teams had only a ‘top’ and ‘base’, most teams also had a ‘middle’. Libby was a ‘top’.

The well-being of each individual within the team was crucial. A serious injury could pull an entire team from competition. There were no back-ups or substitutes. Her coach threatened to bubble-wrap each girl until the meet season ended.

But I’d like to bubble-wrap my son and daughter for LIFE!!

I think I hear an “Amen” from some of the women in the Bible.

Sarah and her late in life son, Isaac. (Infant mortality was near 50% in ancient times.)     Hannah’s son, Samuel – the child she begged God for.                                                                      And what of Eunice, as she watched Timothy sail away on his missionary journey?

Bubble-wrap? Nice thought but impossible. So what’s a mother to do?

Each day, I prayer-wrap my two adult children by slightly altering and adding to this prayer from the Sarum Primer of 1558.

God be in their head, and in their understanding;                                                                                  God be in their eyes, and in their looking;                                                                                                       God be in their mouth, and in their speaking;                                                                                            God be in their heart, and in their thinking;                                                                                                 God be in their ears and in their hearing;                                                                                                 God be in their coming and in their going.

 Best bubble-wrap ever!
